Asda’s Ever-Growing Range of Delightful Gins

In the past, you have seen us review gins and gin liqueurs from a number of different supermarket giants and companies.

Today, we are going to be taking a look at Asda’s ever-growing range of traditional gins and innovative flavoured gins, as more and more seem to be getting distilled regularly, leaving us excited to see what happens next.

The Boom in Own-Label Gins

Over the past several years, we have watched and waited as numerous retailers have begun crafting their own-label gins. These gins are known to be affordable, and they match the needs of the retailers’ desired target market.

At first, we saw London Dry Gins and some relatively standard options, whereas now we are seeing supermarkets and retailers who are slightly more innovative than some actual distilleries are. Some of our favourite options that are offered by supermarket giant Asda include:

1. ASDA Extra Special Pink Gin

We love drinking pink gin, and we are absolutely certain that some of you do too. Asda’s very own creation has been distilled using citrus peels, angelica, strawberries, raspberries, vanilla and a number of other enticing botanicals. We would highly recommend garnishing anything this gin is added to with strawberries to really hone in on those subtle undertones. One of our favourite things about this pink gin is the fact that it came out as a favourite in a Good Housekeeping blind taste test.

2. ASDA Extra Special Triple Distilled Premium Berry Gin

Asda’s Extra Special Triple Distilled Premium Berry Gin is a welcome addition to our classic cocktails, having been distilled using botanicals that include blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants. The berry-infused undertones of this gin are noteworthy, taking their taster on a trip through the Black Forest. If you are wondering what you could mix with this gin that isn’t a traditional tonic water, then you may wish to take a look at some of our favourite gin mixers.

3. ASDA Extra Special Pink Grapefruit & Elderflower Gin Liqueur

Perfect for drinking under the sun, Asda’s Extra Special Pink Grapefruit and Elderflower Gin Liqueur is affordable, delicious and the perfect addition to any summer cocktail. This gin liqueur combines the botanicals present in Asda’s award-winning own-brand gin with the complexities of flavours like grapefruit and elderflower, and one of the many delightful pastel colours that delight across Asda’s range of gin liqueurs.

4. ASDA Extra Special Raspberry & Rose Gin Liqueur

To truly capture the sunlight, Asda’s Extra Special Raspberry and Rose Gin Liqueur is full of glitter that shimmers under the sun in almost any drink. This gin liqueur is fruity, vibrant and affordable. We would highly recommend pairing it with Fentimans Tonic Water for a refreshing twist on a classic gin and tonic.

5. ASDA Extra Special Pear Drop Gin

To fill us all with nostalgic thoughts, Asda has also released several charming gins that taste like British favourites. The first would be our favourite, Asda’s Extra Special Pear Drop Gin. Affordable, shimmery and perfect with a splash of lemonade for a colour-changing effect, this novelty gin is bound to take you back to your childhood with a recognisable flavour.

6. ASDA Extra Special Lemon Sherbet Gin

The second in our line of gins that taste like traditional British sweets, Asda’s Extra Special Lemon Sherbet Gin really does taste like a bag of lemon sherbets. We would highly recommend adding this zesty gin to some summer cocktails for a truly refreshing treat.

7. ASDA Extra Special Parma Violet Gin

Parma violet flavoured gins have been successful for quite a while now, and Asda’s Extra Special Parma Violet Gin really does taste of our beloved sweets. It comes as no literal surprise to us that this gin sold out when it was first released, and it stands up well against some of the other parma violet offerings that are currently available in the world of gin.

8. ASDA Extra Special Rhubarb & Ginger Gin Liqueur

Asda’s Extra Special Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Liqueur is one of our favourites, best enjoyed as the sun starts to set in the evening because of the warming nature of ginger. The natural flavours of rhubarb and ginger combined leave us with a plethora of different undertones, from ones reminiscent of cream soda to pine. We would highly recommend enjoying this gin liqueur neat over ice to really enjoy its warming finish.

Searching among Supermarket Shelves

In our opinion, there is nothing more delightful than a new and exciting gin for us to add to our collection. One of the best things about Asda’s gins is the fact that they are beautifully crafted, using high-quality botanicals to create a wide range of complex palettes. If you don’t really want to worry about making your own drink, then their tinned ASDA Gin Brambles are perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
