When it comes to making cocktails at home, often simpler ingredients and instructions are easier and nicer than gin recipes that seem as though they need entire instruction manuals that are dedicated to them.
Today, we are going to be looking at a number of gin cocktails that you can craft at home in minutes, saving you time, effort and energy as you indulge in an array of enchanting drinks.
1. A Classic Gin and Tonic
No cocktail repertoire would be complete without a classic gin and tonic. Who doesn’t enjoy indulging in a gin and tonic on a warm afternoon? Today, we are going to be combining BLOOM’s London Dry Gin and Fever-Tree’s Tonic Water for a delicate take on the classic pairing.
Ingredients:
– 50ml BLOOM London Dry Gin
– 200ml Fever-Tree Tonic Water
Method:
1. Fill your favourite cocktail glass with as much ice as you want.
2. Pour 50ml of BLOOM’s London Dry Gin over the ice.
3. Top the glass up with 200ml of Fever-Tree’s Tonic Water.
4. If you wish, you could also garnish this classic gin cocktail with fresh strawberries.
Expert Tip:
If you want to upgrade a classic gin and tonic recipe, then you could try using a flavoured gin like Keepr’s English Strawberry & Lavender Gin. If you go down this route, then we would recommend keeping the garnish of fresh strawberries.
2. A Bramble
Combining a charming blackberry liqueur with a classic London dry gin creates a match made in heaven. Enjoy the flavours of ripe blackberries as they intertwine with Sipsmith’s summer meadow notes.
Ingredients:
– 50ml Sipsmith London Dry Gin
– 25ml Monin’s Crème de Mûre
– 25ml Fresh Lemon Juice
– 25ml Sugar Syrup
Method:
1. Half-fill your favourite cocktail shaker with ice.
2. Pour in your Sipsmith London Dry Gin, fresh lemon juice and sugar syrup. Shake until all of your ingredients have combined.
3. Strain your mixture into a cocktail glass of your choice that has been filled with ice.
4. Pour your Crème de Mûre over the top. Do not stir your drink.
5. If you should wish to, then you could also choose to garnish your Bramble cocktail with fresh blackberries.
3. A Bee’s Knees
If you know that you have a sweet tooth, then a Bee’s Knees cocktail might be the right option for you. This Prohibition-era cocktail consists of honey, lemon and a delightful dry gin.
Ingredients:
– 60ml BLOOM London Dry Gin
– 20ml Honey
– 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
Method:
1. Pour your honey and fresh lemon juice into your favourite cocktail shaker.
2. Using a bar spoon, stir the honey and fresh lemon juice together until they have both combined.
3. Pour your BLOOM London Dry Gin and some ice into the cocktail shaker.
4. When you are finished shaking, strain your cocktail into a glass of your choice.
5. If you should wish to, then you could complement this drink with a lemon twist or a lemon wheel.
4. A Martini
Making a gin martini has never been easier. Just make sure that you refuse to follow James Bond’s advice. A classic gin martini recipe should always involve a cocktail that is stirred, not one that is shaken.
Ingredients:
– 60ml Sipsmith London Dry Gin
– 10ml Martini Extra Dry
Method:
1. Fill a glass of your choice with ice.
2. Pour your Sipsmith London Dry Gin and your Martini Extra Dry over the ice.
3. Take a bar spoon, and stir both of your ingredients until they are combined.
4. Strain your cocktail into a chilled cocktail glass of your choice.
5. For an extra layer of elegance, add a lemon twist to your gin martini.
5. A Tom Collins
Towards the end of the 1800s, a vicious rumour circulated that someone called “Tom Collins” was going around speaking obscenities about a bunch of different people. One bartender caught on, and when people entered his pub looking for the man and asked the bartender for him, they would be served a delightful gin drink instead.
Ingredients:
– 50ml BLOOM London Dry Gin
– 25ml Fresh Lemon Juice
– 25ml Monin Pure Cane Sugar
– 150ml Fever-Tree Soda Water
Method:
1. Pour all of your ingredients into a Collins glass.
2. Take a bar spoon and stir your ingredients until they have all combined.
3. When you are finished stirring, perhaps choose to garnish your drink with a lemon wheel, mint and or a cherry.
6. A Sloe Gin Fizz
Sloe gin is known for its unique flavour because it is made with blackthorn drupes, relatives of the common plum. Before the berries can be used, they have to be left to rest. This leaves us with lashings of berry flavours, backed by subtle hints of strawberries and raspberries.
Ingredients:
– 40ml Sipsmith Sloe Gin
– 25ml Sipsmith London Dry Gin
– 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
– 10ml Sugar Syrup
– 150ml Fever-Tree Soda Water
Method:
1. Pour your Sipsmith Sloe Gin, Sipsmith London Dry Gin, fresh lemon juice and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker that has been half-filled with ice.
2. Shake the cocktail shaker until all of your ingredients have combined.
3. Strain your concoction into a cocktail glass of your choice.
4. Top your drink off with Fever-Tree Soda Water.
