Beefeater Blackberry Gin Review

There is nothing better than sitting down in the evening and enjoying the natural flavours of the season.

Strawberries and elderflower, gooseberries and raspberries, there are so many different seasonal delights for us to indulge in. In fact, these charming flavours probably remind many of us of our childhoods.

Taking us straight into the complex flavours of autumn, Beefeater have released their new Beefeater Blackberry Gin, a gin that has already caught our attention as a base that we have been using in many of our autumnal tipples.

Beefeater’s Storied History

Beefeater is one of the most recognisable brands in the United Kingdom, having been distributing their produce since the middle of the 19th century. The first distillery, opened before the company began trading as Beefeater, produced quaint liqueurs, fruit gins and punches that put the distillery on the map.

Later, the company managed to expand whilst retaining the heritage that it had been built on. The equipment that was used at the turn of the 20th century was upgraded, and Beefeater had to continue expanding over the next few decades to keep up with demand.

Given the sheer enormity of this brand, we know that any new gins and gin liqueurs that they bring to the table are more than likely going to be good. They have the expertise needed to pick botanicals which are capable of perfectly complementing each other, and they know how to react to what their customers want.

Autumnal Flavours

We love indulging in flavoured gins that explore the complexities of the ever-changing seasons. This year, Beefeater have brought us their mouth-watering blackberry flavoured gin. This purple coloured gin consists of a smooth gin base and a plethora of natural botanicals that give it an authentic flavour.

If you mix this gin into an autumnal gin cocktail, then you will be happy to discover that it manages to retain its purple pigment. When we look at flavoured gins that are offered by supermarket competitors, we are usually looking at gin liqueurs that are relatively weak when compared to actual gins. This particular gin is quite the opposite, standing at 40%.

The Future of Gin Flavours

Going forwards, we can expect to see more and more supermarkets and distilleries taking inspiration from the seasons that surround them. There are plenty of unique botanicals for gin specialists to choose from, and consumers like us love indulging in new and original flavours. Who doesn’t love adding a new gin or gin liqueur to their gin cabinet?

If you would like to try a slightly different blackberry gin, then you could also try Whitley Neill’s Blackberry Gin offering. Please note, Whitley Neill’s blackberry gin is slightly more expensive than this Beefeater alternative.

To truly enjoy this gin, we would highly recommend mixing it into an autumnal gin cocktail, perhaps garnishing it with some fresh blackberries before the season ends.
