Scottish distillers BrewDog have created a new flavoured gin for their LoneWolf spirits range inspired by America’s Wild Frontier, named LoneWolf Cactus and Lime.
Lonewolf Cactus & Lime Gin
This new offering from BrewDog was officially launched on 5 May, to coincide with the Cinco de Mayo celebrations. This holiday is celebrated in parts of Mexico and the United States in commemoration of the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire in 1862. The day is celebrated with large parades, a feast of traditional Mexican dishes accompanied by Mexican folk music and often traditional Mexican dancing.
Limewolf Cactus & Lime Gin can be purchased through their online store by clicking here.
LoneWolf Cactus and Lime is loaded with flavour from the lime before it is topped up with the juice from a pressed cactus and Queen of the Night – a fragrant cactus flower that only appears at nightfall.
Flavour Profile
The notable botanicals in this gin include: Scots pine, Tuscan juniper, grapefruit peel, lemon peel, lime, pink peppercorns, orris root, angelica, mace, cardamom, lemongrass, kaffir lime, almonds, coriander, lavender, cactus flower and cactus plant.
The BrewDog team say that “the gin dials up the attitude with spiky citrus notes met with a strong juniper backbone. The cactus delivers waves of watermelon and lychee which riff perfectly next to the zesty lime, delivering an oasis of flavour.”
Serving Suggestion
Serving Suggestion: LoneWolf Cactus and Lime is just perfect for a refreshing Southside cocktail (mojito, gin-style).
You’ll need: 50ml of Cactus and Lime gin, 20ml of freshly squeezed lime juice, 15ml of sugar syrup and 6-8 mint leaves. Shake all ingredients over ice and fine strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with one slapped mint leaf to release the oils.
LoneWolf Cactus and Lime Gin now joins the LoneWolf gin range alongside LoneWolf London Dry Gin, LoneWolf Cloudy Lemon Gin and LoneWolf Gin & Tonic in 25cl cans. The expression is priced at £26 (70cl/40% ABV) and is available to buy from BrewDog online by clicking here.
